Chitosan Hydrochloride Mixing Guide for Agricultural Applications
98% DDA, 3 kDa – Professional Reference Chart
Product Description: Chitosan Hydrochloride (98% Deacetylation Degree, 3 kDa molecular weight) is a potent biostimulant derived from chitin. Its high solubility and bioavailability make it ideal for agricultural applications, including eliciting plant defense responses, enhancing growth, and improving stress tolerance.
Note on Measurements: All concentrations in this chart are calculated as % w/v (weight/volume). The values represent the grams of dry powder required to achieve the target percentage in the specified volume of water.
Mixing Table (Grams of Chitosan Hydrochloride)
| Seed Soak | Root Drench | Foliar Spray | Soil Treatment |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0.3% | 0.4% | 0.4% – 0.8% | 0.3% – 0.5% |
| Soak seeds for 1–3 hours before planting to enhance germination and early vigor. | Apply to the root zone to stimulate root development and suppress soil pathogens. | Spray leaves until runoff to trigger systemic acquired resistance (SAR). | General soil amendment for improved microbial activity and soil structure. |

Mixing Instructions & Safety Notes
Preparation: Slowly add the required amount of powder to a small volume of water first to create a slurry, then expand to the full volume.
Temperature: Use warm water if possible (40-50°C / 104-122°F) to significantly speed-up dissolution. Room temp. is fine otherwise.
Agitation: Stir vigorously or use mechanical agitation until fully dissolved (10 minutes). The solution should be clear to slightly viscous.
PPE: Always wear a dust mask, safety glasses, and gloves when handling dry powder to avoid irritation.
Storage: Store powder in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Seal the container tightly after use to prevent moisture absorption.
Safety: Keep out of reach of children and pets. Avoid inhalation of dust.
Shelf Life: Solutions should be used within 24-48 hours for maximum efficacy.
