Chitosan Global

Responsible Supply Chain

Ethics at Every Step — From Source to Solution

At Chitosan Global, we believe that a truly superior product begins long before it reaches the shelf. It begins at the source with the workers who harvest raw materials, the labs that refine them, the logistics that transport them, and the systems that protect the environment along the way. Our supply chain is more than a logistical framework; it’s a living network of principles, partnerships, and shared responsibility.

As a division of Shield Nutraceuticals, Inc., we’ve built our supply chain strategy around the highest standards of integrity, sustainability, and global transparency. Every link in our chain is selected with care so that the chitosan you receive is not only high in molecular quality but ethically and environmentally sound from start to finish.

Sustainable Ingredient Sourcing

We work exclusively with suppliers who practice responsible harvesting of chitin, the base material from which chitosan is derived. Our chitosan products come from renewable, biodegradable sources, including:

  • Fungal biomass(Aspergillus niger, Mucor species)

  • Black soldier fly exoskeletons(insect protein industry byproducts)

These sources are selected not only for their high-quality yield but for their alignment with circular economy principles, turning what would otherwise be industrial waste into high-performance, regenerative materials.

Our supply requirements include:

  • Eco-friendly processing techniques that avoid harmful solvents

  • Non-GMO, non-irradiated biomass

  • Documentation of environmental compliance in the country of origin

  • Verification of raw material traceability

Fair Labor & Ethical Production

Behind every molecule of chitosan is a human story. That’s why we ensure our supply partners are committed to ethical labor practices and workplace safety.

  • No child labor or forced laboris tolerated at any stage of our production chain.

  • All partner facilities must comply with local labor laws, wage protections, and occupational health standards.

  • We prioritize vendors that offer worker training, health protections, and gender-equity programs.

We conduct regular due diligence and supplier reviews to uphold these commitments and ensure no part of our supply chain violates basic human rights or international labor norms.

Certifications & Compliance

All of our suppliers are expected to meet or exceed the following regulatory and quality frameworks:

  • GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice)

  • ISO 9001 / ISO 13485 / ISO 14001 Certifications

  • REACH Compliance (Europe)

  • FDA Registration (U.S. Imports)

  • HACCP Systems (where applicable)

Every product is accompanied by a Certificate of Analysis (COA)and Safety Data Sheet (SDS), and most include microbial, heavy metal, and solvent residue testing as standard.

Carbon-Conscious Logistics

Our responsible supply chain also includes the routes we choose, the warehouses we use, and the way our products are packaged.

  • We consolidate shipments and use sea freight when possible to reduce carbon emissions.

  • Our fulfillment centers prioritize batch-controlled, climate-safe, and energy-efficient storage.

  • We are transitioning to plastic-free, recyclable, and compostablepackaging solutions in all markets.

  • Our labels include QR-code-enabled traceability, giving buyers a direct view into product origin, specs, and lab results, all held on a blockchain for security and transparency.

We believe that every gram of chitosan we sell should carry a smaller ecological footprint than the synthetic or petrochemical ingredient it replaces.

Partnering for Long-Term Impact

Our supply chain is built not just for efficiency but for collaboration and progress. We aim to uplift the global chitosan ecosystem by building long-term relationships with:

  • Producers in Asia, Europe, and South America

  • Labs and testing facilities that validate quality

  • Researchers and NGOs focused on bioeconomy development
